Legend will have it that the Swiss national hero William Tell refused to acknowledge the hat of the Hapsburg provincial governor Gessler. As a punishment, he had to shoot an apple from his son's head with a crossbow. Although Tell hit the target, he was arrested once again because he was carrying a second arrow with which he wanted to shoot Gessler. He managed to escape. He lay in wait for Gessler in an alleyway ("Hohle Gasse") in Küssnacht and shot him.Interesting fact
