Comment
In 2011 the Spanish painters series is dedicated to four important Spanish artists: Domenicos Theotocopoulos -El Greco- (1541-1614), Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617-1682), José de Ribera -El Españoleto- (1591-1652) and Francisco de Zurbarán (1598-1664). This is the fourth issue of the series called "Spanish Painters", with which we want to pay tribute to the most outstanding Spanish creators throughout history.
Doménikos Theotokópoulos (Greek: Δομήνικος Θεοτοκόπουλος; 1 October 1541 – 7 April 1614), most widely known as El Greco, was a Greek painter, sculptor and architect of the Spanish Renaissance. El Greco was a nickname, and the artist normally signed his paintings with his full birth name in Greek letters, often adding the word Κρής (Krḗs), which means "Cretan", in Ancient Greek.
