Magnificent in their diversity, Canada's native maples inspire respect everywhere. Each species can be recognized by its leaf; here, the deep V-shaped indentations distinguish the Silver Maple. Elegant and majestic, this fast-growing tree reaches heights of 35 metres in moist soils, such as those that line the waterways of Eastern Canada. This species gets its name from the silvery-white underside of its leaf, which seems to shimmer on this superb gold coin!Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case featuring the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case comes with a black protective box.
Interesting fact
The 2017 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf 50-cent coin is interesting because it features a unique privy mark, a small maple leaf, which is not found on other coins in the series. This privy mark was added to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Canada's Confederation.
