Comment
Due to a mint error, these pieces were struck with the obverse die of a New Zealand 1985 50 cent (KM#37) and the reverse die of a Canada 1985 dollar (KM#120). There were only 6 struck, according to Krause, or 12 if you believe the Price Guide for Canadian Coin 2011. Krause & Mischler list the metal as nickel, which implies that the planchets were the type used for the Canada dollar.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1985 Elizabeth II (2nd portrait; Mule) 50 Cents coin from New Zealand and Canada is that it features a rare error, known as a "mule" error, where the obverse (front) die was accidentally paired with a reverse (back) die from a different coin. This resulted in a unique combination of designs that was not intended by the mint, making it a highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
