Comment
This coin was not issued into circulation. It was issued in two different ways. Firstly as a BU Specimen Set with blue label which contained polished coins, (sometimes described as prooflike). Secondly as ordinary coins in an Uncirculated Set with pink label. It had a different edge treatment to the normal 50 cent coin. It was smooth with an inscription as shown above. Large 50 cent coins were demonetised on 31/10/2006.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1969 New Zealand 50 Cents coin featuring Elizabeth II (2nd Portrait) is that it was minted in a relatively small quantity of only 10,000 pieces, making it a rare and sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
