Comment

Provisional coinage of 1915-1923 was made in order to facilitate conversion from the Real system to the decimal system, because up to that point Real and Peso were both legal tender, but the Real was being phased out.

Interesting fact

The 50 Centavos coin from Guatemala, issued in 1922, has an interesting feature. It was made of Aluminum bronze, an alloy composed of 91% copper and 9% aluminum. This metal combination was used to reduce the cost of production and to make the coin more durable than coins made of pure copper.
