The 1999 coin was issued individually while the 2000 coin, with selective gold plating coin was also issued individually as well as in the 2000 Annual Proof set. This design was also struck in copper-nickel and gold proof, in both 1999 and 2000.The edge lettering is taken from William Shakespeare's The Tempest and recognises the dawn of the new millennium as an opportunity to look into the future.
