Comment
Krauze Catalogue wrongly put the year as 2004. Full series was issued in 2004-2005 but the coin with Michael Owen is dated 2005.Initially, this series was intended to be 23 silver proof coins, issued in monthly intervals as subscription. Unfortunatelly, after issuing only eight coins, Royal Mint decided to stop this collection. Krauze catalogues list the full range of these coins, even most of them were never issued.
Below the photo of the commercial leaflet from Royal Mint (image from Royal Mint Museum). This leaflet confirm that originally 23 coins were planned.
Interesting fact
The interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design, showcasing a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on one side and a portrait of the former English footballer Michael Owen on the other. This coin was issued to commemorate Michael Owen's achievements in the football world, and it's a rare and valuable collector's item for both coin collectors and football fans.
