Comment
To celebrate the 2004 Summer Olympics returning to its birthplace, Greece, a special collection of coins were issued. Each coin depicts a different sport infront of a prominent land mark of each country that has held the Olympic Games.
This coin is the only coin in the collection not to feature the flag of the country. Spain has held the Games on one occasion. Barcelona hosted the games in 1992.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted to commemorate the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens, Greece, rather than Spain. The coin features a design depicting the Olympic flame and the logo of the International Olympic Committee. This error on the coin's design has made it a unique and sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
