Comment
Due to the "Liberal Revolution" of 1871, Guatemala removed itself from the Latin Monetary Union. Real coinage was reintroduced and the Guatemalan Peso was defined as 25.4 grams of .900 silver. However, the rate of 1.612 grams of .900 gold per Peso was maintained.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 5 Pesos 1872-1878 coin from Guatemala is that it was one of the first coins to feature the national emblem of Guatemala, the Quetzal bird, on its obverse side.
