The coin is dedicated to Yevhen Oskarovych Paton (1870-1953), a world-famous scientist, founder of Ukrainian schools of bridge engineering and electric welding, outstanding engineer and pedagogue. On his initiative established was the Electric Welding Laboratory under the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine which in 1934 was reorganized into the Electric Welding Institute whose director and research manager Yevhen Paton was continuously to the end of his life.
