Comment
Patrimonio Nacional is the denomination received in Spain by the public body, dependent on the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Equality, dedicated to the care and maintenance of assets historically linked to the Crown of Spain. The Real Monasterio de la Encarnación is a convent of Augustinian Recollect nuns located in Madrid (Spain). The institution, to which ladies of the high nobility belonged, was founded by Queen Margaret of Austria, wife of Philip III, at the beginning of the 17th century. Due to the artistic collections it houses, it is, together with the Descalzas Reales, one of the most outstanding temples in the city. It was built between 1611 and 1616, although it was renovated several times later.
Interesting fact
The Royal Monastery of La Encarnación coin has a unique feature; it has a rose-shaped window on its dome, which opens to reveal a 24-karat gold-plated sphere. This sphere represents the Earth, and it rotates freely, creating a beautiful effect as the light catches it. This feature is a nod to the monastery's history and symbolism, making the coin not only a beautiful collector's item but also a representation of the rich history and culture of Spain.
