Comment

The Holy Cathedral Church of Santa María de Murcia is a Gothic style building with important Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical elements. Its construction began in the fourteenth century, although during the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries it underwent numerous reforms. In addition to the Vélez Chapel, the Junterones Chapel, the Puerta de las Cadenas or the Tower, the monumental main façade or imafronte stands out. Designed by Jaime Bort in the eighteenth century, it replaced an earlier facade from the mid-sixteenth century. It is made as a stone altarpiece and is considered a masterpiece of Spanish Baroque.
