This coin is issued on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the accession of Cyprus to the Eurozone. The “Talanto” (talent - mass of metal used as a unit of value in the pre money era) depicted on the coin symbolises a timeless bridge that connects the cultural and monetary past of Cyprus with the new era of the euro. The euro symbol and the twelve stars of the European Union are also depicted on the coin symbolising the new era.
