Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1967 Canadian Confederation 5-cent coin is that it was the first coin to feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that was designed specifically for Canadian currency. The coin's designer, Arnold Machin, created a unique portrait of the Queen that was different from the traditional depiction used on British coins. This design change was a significant departure from previous Canadian coins, which had featured a generic image of the Queen that was used on coins throughout the British Commonwealth. The new portrait was seen as a symbol of Canada's growing independence and distinct identity.
