They've become a cultural benchmark: the antagonist persists in capturing the protagonist, but fails miserably. For generations of viewers, Vil Coyote and Bip Bip have been trapped in an eternal chase scenario: the poor coyote invents complicated stratagems to catch the bird that's whizzing by, unaware of the danger that could await him. It all began with the episode Vite fait, mal fait, from which the image on the reverse of this coin is taken.Released on September 17, 1949, Vite fait, mal fait was the first short film to feature Vil Coyote and Bip Bip. Initially a parody of the cat-and-mouse chase cartoons prevalent at the time, the chase between Vil Coyote and Bip Bip quickly became one of the most famous of all time. Yet, with the notable exception of the falling anvil, all the classic gags are present right from the start: Vite fait, mal fait features a fall from a cliff, a rocket that misfires, a painted tunnel that miraculously lets the prey through but stops the pursuer dead in his tracks, and even a scene where a character runs headlong into an obstacle... just as is likely to happen on the flip side of this coin.
In all the cartoons featuring Vil Coyote and Bip Bip, the script obeys strict rules: there's no dialogue, except to express pain and to let out the legendary
"Beep! Bip!"; nothing can hurt Coyote except his own mistakes or the various ACME products he uses; his humiliation is always greater than the pain. And with a few exceptions, Bip Bip is always on the road.
Packaging
The piece is encapsulated and presented in an ACME wooden crate with an illustrated protective box.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the "Fast and Furry-ous" coin is that it features a unique reverse design that showcases a stylized image of a race car, with the Queen's effigy appearing on the hood of the car. This design was created by Canadian artist Joel Kimmel, and it was intended to blend the theme of speed and racing with the traditional image of the Queen. The coin's design was well-received by collectors and helped to make it a popular issue in the Royal Canadian Mint's collection.
