The Saint Nicholas Cathedral was built in the City of Yakutsk in 1828. Its erection has been sponsored by eminent citizens of the city. Renovated in 1976 the Cathedral was included into the register of the architectural monuments of Yakutiya

Interesting fact

The Saint Nicholas Cathedral coin was designed by Russian artist, A. V. Bakhirev, and features an image of the historic Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Moscow on one side, and the Russian coat of arms on the other.
