Comment

The 1987 series was initially manufactured to be part of the 1st Córdoba currency. Due to the 1988 redenomination and removal of 3 zeros, the 1987 series was introduced into the 2nd Córdoba currency. While these coins are dated 1987, they were not released into circulation until 1988 after the conversion was made.

Due to high inflation caused by fiscal mismanagement in the 1980s, the Córdoba was again redenominated in 1990 at a rate of 1 Córdoba "Oro" = 5,000,000 "old" Córdobas.

Interesting fact

The 25 Centavos coin from Nicaragua features the national emblem of Nicaragua on one side and the denomination on the other. The national emblem includes a triangle with a volcano, a rainbow, and a rising sun, which symbolizes the country's natural beauty and rich resources.
