Comment
Law: Bando 20AGO1755The stamp was also applied over "Macuquinas(Coobs)" and other "8 Reales" from Mexico and Lima with many dates.
The stamp M (1760) was to give the coin the value of 4 Cruzados= 1 600 Réis. The second stamp MR(1765) raised the value to 6 Cruzados= 2 400 Réis.
If the dates are after 1765, the stamps are fake.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of King José I of Portugal, who ruled from 1750 to 1777. The counterstamp "MR" over 8 Reales/México indicates that it was minted in Mexico City, which was a Spanish colony at the time. This coin is a rare example of a Portuguese coin minted in a Spanish colony, highlighting the complex history of colonialism and trade between Portugal and Spain during the 18th century.
