Comment
The lighthouse at La Corbière sits on a rock 500m from the shore at the most south-westerly point of Jersey, in the parish of St Bredlade, and is the first lighthouse in the British Isles to be constructed of concrete. Although Krause and Jersey Coins and Banknotes both denote this coin as being a commemorative of the 100th anniversary, the lighthouse was actually completed in November 1873 and formally lit in April 1874.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design, showcasing the Corbière Lighthouse, which is located on the southwestern coast of Jersey. The lighthouse was built in 1874 and has been an important navigational aid for mariners for over a century. The coin's design highlights the lighthouse's distinctive black and white stripes, which make it easily recognizable. The coin's silver composition and proof finish also add to its collectibility and numismatic value.
