Comment
Under the name 'Numismatic Jewels', in 2008 a new series of collector coins begins in which unique pieces of Hispanic numismatics will be reproduced, and which will continue over the next few years. This 8th series is dedicated to the last coins of Bourbons reigns: 2 escudo gold coin of 1731 (Felipe V), 8 reales silver coin of 1808 (Carlos IV) and one peseta gold coin of 2001 (Juan Carlos I).
The peseta was the legal tender in Spain and its overseas territories from its approval on October 19, 1868 until January 1, 1999,2 when the euro was adopted as the legal tender, although it was definitively withdrawn of circulation in March 2002 after a transitional period.
Interesting fact
The Peseta of Juan Carlos I coin is a unique and interesting collector's item, as it was minted to commemorate the 40th anniversary of King Juan Carlos I's reign in Spain. The coin's design features an image of the king on one side and the Spanish coat of arms on the other, making it a special piece of Spanish history. Additionally, the coin's gold composition and limited mintage of 1,500 pieces only add to its value and exclusivity.
