The standard weight of this coin was 516 grains.In 1861 the reverse of the gold 20 dollars coin was redesigned by Anthony C. Paquet, but it was withdrawn soon after its release. The letters in the inscriptions on the Paquet reverse variety are taller than on the regular reverse.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1861 Liberty Head Double Eagle coin is that it was designed by James B. Longacre, who was the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint at the time. Longacre's design features a portrait of Lady Liberty on the obverse (front) side of the coin, and an eagle on the reverse (back) side. The coin was minted during a time of great change and upheaval in the United States, as the country was in the midst of the Civil War. Despite the challenges of the time, the Liberty Head Double Eagle coin remained in circulation until 1907, when it was replaced by the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. Today, the 1861 Liberty Head Double Eagle is a highly sought-after collector's item, with some mint conditions selling for tens of thousands of dollars.
