Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Liberty Head Double Eagle coin is that it was designed by James B. Longacre, the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint at the time. Longacre's design features a portrait of Lady Liberty on the obverse (front) side of the coin, with a bald eagle on the reverse (back) side. The coin was minted from 1849 to 1866 and was used as a standard circulation coin during that time. It was made of gold (.900) and copper (.100) and weighed 33.436 grams.
