At first glance, the cougar's muscular build leaves little doubt as to its strength and agility. Canada's largest wild cat relies on surprise: it stealthily approaches its prey and waits for just the right moment to pounce... as seen here! In a faithful replica of a lightning attack, a three-dimensional cougar created by a process called thermoforming literally springs from the surface of the piece.Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case adorned with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case is accompanied by a black protective box.

The three-dimensional leaping cougar design on the 2017 Canadian $20 silver coin was created using a unique minting technique called "multiple frostings" to give the illusion of depth and dimension.
