Comment
This is a Type I obverse & reverse die.
Obverse:
- Tiny, almost non-existent period after L. and S.
- Incuse dots in stars
- Bust is Utberg's portrait c
Reverse:
-Type I letters.
-Without “TM” below wreath.
As is the case of the 5 and 10 centavos coins, two styles of the lettering occurred. Type I has thin, rugged letters and numbers while Type II consist of heavy, regularly shaped letter. In some cases it might well be argued that the Type II letters & numbers were re-engraved over the Type I letters & numbers.
Interesting fact
The 1915 20 Centavos coin from the State of Oaxaca is interesting because it was produced during a time of political turmoil in Mexico. The Provisional Government issued this coin as a temporary solution to address the lack of small denomination coins in circulation. The coin's unique curved bottom design and lack of the TM mint mark make it stand out from other coins of the time. Additionally, the use of copper in its production gives it a distinctive reddish-brown color that sets it apart from other coins made of different metals.
