Comment
This series of coins were minted by Christian II in Oslo during his campaign to regain the throne from his uncle Frederik I. The silver used for these coins was sent by archbishop of Nidaros, Olav Engelbrektsson, as a show of support for his claim on the throne.Interesting fact
The 2 Skilling Klipping coin from Norway, issued during the reign of Christian II (1531-1532), is interesting because it was made of silver, but its value was intentionally lowered by the government to address economic issues, hence the name "Klipping," which means "clipped" in Norwegian. This coin's value was reduced to 1/4th of its original value, making it an interesting example of currency debasement in history.
