Date of issue: 27 JAN 1997Nikolai Yegorovich Zhukovsky (1847-1921) – Russian researcher, founder of modern aerodynamics, and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg (1894) – wrote many scientific works on the theory of aviation, and carried out many important research projects on astronomy, mathematics, hydrodynamics, hydraulics, and applied mechanics. He was the founder and first director of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Research Institute in Moscow.
