One of three coins issued to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, by honouring his work. This coin represents the tragedies, the other coins in the series represent the comedies and the histories. Issued as part of the Annual Gold Coin Set for 2016 (82 sales) as well as individually (209 sales), the design was also issued in copper-nickel, silver proof and silver piedfort.
