Britain was at the edge of the Roman Empire in the early 2nd century. Rome had invaded and colonialised England and much of Wales in a campaign starting in AD 43, but had never succeeded in gaining a foothold north, always held back by Pict and Caledonian tribes in what we now call Scotland.Severus Septimus - Visited, lived, and died in Britain. He was leading a campaign to finally defeat the Scots after many rebellions. He fell ill and died in York.
