One of three coins issued to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, by honouring his work. This coin represents the histories, the other coins in the series represent the comedies and the tragedies. The coin was released for circulation as well as being available as part of the 2016 Annual Brilliant Uncirculated (22,786 sales) and Proof sets and in 3-coin BU sets (22,060 sales) as well as BU tubes (6,341 sales). One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that commemorates the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death. The coin's reverse side features an image of Shakespeare's famous Globe Theatre, along with a quote from his play "Hamlet" - "To thine own self be true" - and the coin's year of issue, 2016. This design was created by renowned British artist and designer, John Bergdahl.
