Comment
The Knesset is Israel's legislature. Its laws form the basis for the legal system. Ancient Jewish law is one of the sources applied to interpret the laws of the State. Israel does not yet have a complete written constitution, however there are "Basic Laws" which cover a broad variety of subjects, including the State, the Presidency, the Parliament, the Courts, the Government, the Army, and equality of the sexes. The court system consists of the supreme, district and magistrate courts. Judges are appointed by the President of the State. Courts of special jurisdiction include labor, military, and religious courts. The Israeli legal system enjoys public confidence at home and is highly regarded abroad.Interesting fact
The 2 New Sheqalim coin from Israel, minted in 1992, features a unique design that showcases the country's rich history and culture. On one side of the coin, there is an image of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, which was built during the reign of King Herod in the 1st century BCE and was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. On the other side, there is an image of the Seven Species, which are seven agricultural products that are considered sacred in Judaism and are mentioned in the Torah as being produced in the Land of Israel. These species are wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates. The coin's design serves as a symbol of Israel's connection to its history, culture, and religious heritage.
