The Ninth Paralympic Games took place after the general Olympic Games in Barcelona, in early September 1992. Approximately 3,000 physically disabled athletes from 92 countries took part in 15 different sports. Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain served as Honorary President. Cheerful, friendly and full of energy "Petra" is the mascot of the games and symbolizes their spirit.
