Comment

The coin is dedicated to the birth centenary of Pavlo Virsky, a Ukrainian choreographer, people' artist of the USSR, who had made great contribution to the dancing development enriching it with masterly choreographic elements. Working as a choreographer of Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Kyiv opera and ballet theatres and as an art director (1955 - 1975) of Ensemble of Dancing (since 1977 called after him), Virsky maintained in his creative work principles of folk dance adaptation for the stage which was a very organic combination with a classic dance.

The interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design, showcasing a portrait of Pavlo Virsky, a famous Ukrainian dancer and choreographer, on one side, and the Ukrainian Coat of Arms on the other. The coin's design was created by Ukrainian artist, Anatoliy Demyanenko.
