Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957) was one of Greece’s greatest 20th-century writers. He is known across the world mostly for his novels, rich in metaphysical insight and iconic heroes, and translated into over 30 languages.The coin was issued in bankrolls and in Proof quality in a wooden box with a certificate of authenticity and in BU quality on a coincard blister.
Interesting fact
The coin's design features a portrait of Kazantzakis on the obverse (front side), while the reverse (back side) features a quote from his famous book, "Zorba the Greek," which reads: "I fear nothing, I hope for nothing, I am free." This quote reflects Kazantzakis' philosophy of life, which emphasizes the importance of freedom, courage, and the pursuit of one's dreams.
