Comment
Part of the eventually rejected 1949 patterns for the first issue of Independent Indian Coins post Independence. There are another two versions of this coin in copper-nickel . Not to be confused with very similar coin that possess stars on outside and extra detail.
Interesting fact
The Pattern 2 Annas (Brass Pattern) 1949, made of Brass, is a rare and unique coin that was never officially released into circulation. It was minted as a trial piece to test the design and production process, and only a small number of samples were produced. As a result, it is highly sought after by collectors and is considered a valuable addition to any numismatic collection.
