Fray Bentos is the name of the city, capital of Rio Negro department, where the Industrial complex is placed, situated to west of the country, named after Fray Bentos (meaning "Friar Benedict"), who was a reclusive priest.Fray Bentos also was the main brand of processed canned meat produced for Liebig Extract of Meat Company, known as "Anglo", first great industrial complex in the southern region of South America, which was active for 117 years.
NOTE: in spite this coin is silver, and has a small mintage, is commemorative circulating. The Central Bank of Uruguay released them to circulation, and then demonetized the coins.
