On January 21, 1867, was officially founded the Stock Exchange, under name of Centro Comercial (Commercial Center).On 1795, the Junta de Comerico (Traders' Joint) already defended commerce interests.
On 1907 name is changed to Bolsa de Comercio Sociedad Anónima (stock Exchange, S.A.)
On 1940, is moved to actual placement, as the previous one was used to build the Banco de la República (Bank of the Republic) central building.
On June 4th, 1998, name is changed again to the current one, Camara Nacional de Comercio y Servicios del Uruguay (National Commerce and Services Chamber of Uruguay), that is more descriptive of its activity range.
Painting included in coin is a fragment of "Mare Liberum" (free sea), painted on 1944 by Uruguayan artist José Zorrilla de San Martin for the Chamber, showing the Commerce Agreement signed between England and the Banda Oriental (Uruguay) on August 2nd, 1817.
Coin was issued on October 1st., 2019, and previously demonetized on July 10th., to preserve its conservation as numismatic material.
Interesting fact
The 1000 Pesos Uruguayos (Chamber of Commerce) 2017 coin from Uruguay is unique in that it features a rare example of a coin with a square shape. Most coins are round in shape, but this coin breaks that convention with its square design, making it stand out among other coins.
