Interesting fact
The coin features an alligator on its obverse (front side), which is a unique design choice for a coin. Alligators are not typically associated with Uganda, as they are not native to the country. However, the coin's designer, the Ugandan artist Joseph Kitagaya, chose to feature an alligator to represent the country's diverse wildlife and to highlight the importance of conservation efforts. The coin's reverse (back side) features the Ugandan crest and the words "Bank of Uganda."
