Comment

The eleventh design in The Queen's Beasts bullion series which began in 2017 with the Lion of England, there are a total of ten Beasts representing the statues that stood in Westminster Abbey on the Queen's Coronation in 1953. The original statues are now on display in the Canadian Museum of History at Gatineau, whilst James Woodford's sculpted replicas stand in the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, London.

This Jody Clark reverse design was struck in a variety of base and precious metal compositions and denominations.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the coin is that it is part of a series of coins known as "The Queen's Beast" collection, which features a series of 10 coins that each depict one of the heraldic beasts that appear on the coat of arms of the United Kingdom. This particular coin features a platinum rendition of the final beast in the series, the "Completer," which is a lion holding a shield with the Tudor rose, symbolizing the unity of the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom.
