Comment
Carlos Manuel de Céspedes (1819-1874) was a Cuban lawyer and landowner who started the first of the three independence wars in Cuba (known as "Guerra Grande" ("Big War") or "Guerra de los Diez Años" ("Ten Years War"). On 1868 he freed his slaves and invited them to join him to fight for Cuban Independence; is known as "Grito de Yara" ("Yara Cry").(source:http://elinformadorlibre.blogspot.com.uy)
Yara is a small town placed on south east of Cuba, where on 1512 Hatuey, a Taino chief was burnt in the stake for revelating against Spanish domination; is considered as Cuba's First National Hero.
Templates used for the dies were produced in Spain.
This pattern was a dies trial for KM# 43, this is the reason of it shows ""AV'0.917" (gold 0.917) on obverse, and not the real material and weight; also minted in BU quality instead of Proof, like the definitive coins. Design of both sides are exactly the same as on KM# 43.
