IMPORTANT NOTICE: In spite this coin is listed on Krause catalog, it is suspected it's a mistake: accordingly to Cuban Minthouse, 100 Pesos coins were minted as trial strikes, Piedfort (KM# P58), but final issue was changed to 200 Pesos; on the other hand, also Cuban minthouse listed 3 variations to Piedforts, that in general match the descriptions of the 3 variants listed for this coin on Krause. We think that Krause people got confused as Piedforts usually are minted using the dies of the final version, without modify weight (in this case, is engraved 1 Oz, while the Piedfort weights 2 Oz.Simon Bolivar and Jose Marti, are two extremely important figures in the american nations' independence process.
