Comment
Currency issued by order of the Grand-Ducal Decree of 29 September 1947 for an amount of 10 million francs. They were struck at the Brussels mint with an alloy of silver (835 ‰) and copper (165 ‰) and a tolerance of 3 thousandths. The tolerance of the weight being 10 thousandths. After demonetization in 1955, 2000 pieces were restruck in 1964 while retaining the mintage year of 1946. The name of the engraver was forgotten on the right and the reverse. The groove of these restrikes is very weakly marked. Of these pieces, 500 were restruck a second time, also in 1964. They have the same characteristics as the first restrike except that the groove is well marked this time, but coarse. These parts correspond to the reference L#293-3 and Weiller#283C (Weiller, pp 158-159).
