The image shows the view from behind of the 3 Columbus Vessels when reaching America for the first time; ¡Tierra, Tierra! were the the words of Rodrigo de Triana, first European man to see America land, a island named Guanahani, which exact location is still is under discussion. In the image Triana is shown waving on top of the closest vessel ("La Pinta"), while announcing the sight of land. There is another version of this coin, KM# 249.1 & 249.2, with exergue on reverse, see link below.

Interesting fact
The 1989 Cuban 10 Pesos silver coin features a unique design that showcases the island nation's rich cultural heritage. The obverse side of the coin depicts a stunning image of a traditional Cuban farmer, dressed in a straw hat and carrying a hoe, set against a backdrop of lush green fields and palm trees. The reverse side features the national coat of arms of Cuba, surrounded by the words "República de Cuba" and the coin's denomination. One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted in a limited quantity of only 5,000 pieces, making it a rare and highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists. Additionally, the coin's silver content and unique design make it a valuable addition to any collection of rare coins.
