In 2011, Spink changed their reference number for this coin when the composition of the base metal strike changed to Ni plated steel:
Sp#F6 (2008-11)
Sp#F7 (2012-15)

In 2012, for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee most coins were selectively plated with Gold and so this silver proof edition was limited.

The 2015 strike was issued as part of the dual set to commemorate the change from the 4th portrait to the 5th and was also struck in copper-nickel, gold proof and platinum proof.
