Comment

The 2008 strike was released as part of the changeover from the Emblems of Britain to the Royal Shield (Issue Limit: 2,008) and the 2015 strike as part of the dual set to commemorate the change from the 4th portrait to the 5th. The coin was also issued in copper-nickel, silver proof and platinum proof, while the 2008 was also issued in silver piedfort.

In 2011, Spink changed their reference number for this coin when the composition of the base metal strike changed to Ni plated steel:
Sp#F6 (2008)
Sp#F7 (2012-15)

2008 Issue Limit: 2,008
2012 Issue Limit: 150
2015 Issue Limit: 500

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted in a limited quantity of only 1,000 pieces, making it a rare and valuable collector's item.
