It's also on this hill that Canadians gather to celebrate and remember, in the shadow of a tower named for that which Canadians hold most dear: peace.

Did you know?
On February 3, 1916, the Centre Block was engulfed in flames. Only the Parliamentary Library was spared; everything else had to be rebuilt. In 1920, the new Centre Block was opened, and on July 1, 1927, what is today Canada's most famous campanile (free-standing tower with bell tower) was inaugurated: the Peace Tower.
The tower houses a 53-bell carillon. From September to June, the Dominion Carillonneur gives a 15-minute recital every weekday at noon. From July to August, the performance lasts a full hour; opening with the national anthem, it continues with a varied selection of both classical and contemporary pieces.
The Centenary Flame was lit on January 1, 1967. Originally intended to burn for just one year, its great popularity eventually earned it permanent status.
Major renovations are underway at the Centre Block, featured on this piece. That said, you can still take a guided tour of the Senate of Canada, the House of Commons (now in the West Block) and the East Block.

Packaging
Each piece is individually encapsulated, and together, the six pieces make a magnificent collection in their presentation box.Automatically translated
