The Battle of Les Saintes took place from April 9 to April 12, 1782, during the Anglo-French War, between a British fleet led by George Rodney and a French fleet led by the Comte de Grasse. The British fleet emerged victorious. The confrontation was named after the islands of Les Saintes (an archipelago separated from Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe by the Canal des Saintes) and Dominica, where it took place. (Source : www.wikipedia.org)Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it commemorates the Battle of the Saints, a naval battle fought between the British and the French in 1782, which took place in the waters surrounding Saint Lucia. The coin's design features an image of Queen Elizabeth II on one side and a depiction of the battle on the other. The coin's silver content and proof finish add to its collectibility and numismatic value.
