Comment
New Zealand’s Māori culture is a vital part of our national identity. The 10-cent coin features a Māori carved mask, known as a ‘koruru’, with rafter patterns. Traditionally, a koruru is carved into the gables of the meeting house and is seen as the ‘guardian of the house’. Each coin is specially dated 2024 and is the first to feature the portrait of King Charles III.
Interesting fact
The 10 cent coin featuring Charles III (1st Portrait) 2024 from New Zealand is the first coin to feature the new monarch's portrait since Queen Elizabeth II's reign ended in 2022.
