Comment

This coin was minted in the small municipality of Atlixtax in the state of Guerrero by order of Emiliano Zapata during the Mexican Revolution. Its production was undertaken in an improvised mint located in the municipality's sugar mill. It was very poor in quality despite the efforts of the workers, due to the limited productive means available.

Interesting fact

The 10 Centavos coin from the State of Guerrero, Mexico, made of Copper and weighing 6.13g, is interesting because it was minted during a time of great political and social change in Mexico. The coin was issued in 1915, just a few years after the Mexican Revolution, which overthrew the long-standing dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz and established a new constitution and government. The coin's design, featuring the image of a serpent and the words "Estado de Guerrero" (State of Guerrero), reflects the state's rich indigenous history and cultural heritage. Additionally, the use of copper as the material for the coin was a common practice during this time period, as it was a readily available and affordable metal. Overall, this coin serves as a small but meaningful reminder of the rich history and cultural identity of the State of Guerrero during a time of significant change and upheaval in Mexico.
