This type was designed by Richard Placht, who was an engraver for the Vienna Mint in Austria; however, the design was met with disapproval. Criticism revolved around the details of the Mausoleum being over simplified (due to the designer only having architectural pictures to work from), and having the portrait not actually resembling how Sun Yat-sen looked.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted in 1927, which was the 10th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's death, and it was issued to commemorate his contributions to the establishment of the Republic of China.
